Expanded Blog Entries

Page history last edited by Joe Essid 1 yr ago

These appeared originally as part of my blog "In a Strange Land" for the Richmond Times Dispatch.  Each entry discusses a pedagogical issue I'm exploring for my classes that use SL. Some of the longer entries go straight to my personal Web site. Others point back to the blog. Either way, each entry below gives the gist so teachers can find what they need.

  • A 2500-year-old Problem four principles to use with Millennial students who do not understand free-form play

  • Tenchi's Law: the fifth principle: how to break the ice with students uneasy about SL
  • SLURL vs. LM: how do we get students to their destinations?
  • Choosing Clients: Onrez or Linden Lab's client? Why I reluctantly chose the Linden client
  • Bounding Over Technical Hurdles: What every teacher must consider before using SL on campus
  • Orphaned by an Upgrade: When confronted by mandatory upgrades from Linden Lab, what can you do? How can you avoid being cut off from SL mid-semester?
